Empty suite

This is a legacy version of Copado Robotic Testing help. This page will not be updated anymore.

See https://docs.copado.com/ for up-to-date documentation.

As mentioned earlier, this is the easiest way to get started with creating your test cases in Copado Robotic Testing. All you need to do here is click on Empty suite. After which you are all set to start using QEditor and writing your test cases.

The newly created suite comes with two folders (tests and resources), each with a template file (tests.robot and keywords.robot) to kick start your testing process. You can add as many files and folders in this suite as you wish. You can use QEditor to create, edit test cases or conduct live testing. Please read below for more information.

  1. Feature is available for projects created after April, 2020.

  2. Feature is available for standard projects. By default, you always create a standard project.

  3. No extra steps needed for authentication or using QEditor. You are all set, when you create an Empty suite.

  4. You can create as many files or folders under this suite.

  5. All your files and folders are saved with your other suite information.

  6. All the files are safe and secure. They are not accessible outside of their respective projects. People with no access rights to your project can not view them.

  7. People with edit rights to your project can edit the files or folders.

  8. People with view rights to your project can view the files or folders but can not save them.

  9. These files are not version controlled, as they are in git. Consequently, you can not restore to a previous version of your files or even track the changes made.

  10. If two people make simultaneous edits and save to the same file, one will overwrite the other.

  11. As against a git repo, a suite created using empty suite can not be cloned or linked. If you need to add another suite with exact same files and folders from a suite, copying and pasting is currently the only option.
